Las imágenes analógicas (digitalizadas con Nikon Coolscan V ED) o digitales (RAW) obtenidas hasta 2018 fueron procesadas en Adobe Lightroom y desde 2019 mediante Capture One Pro.

Las imágenes fueron obtenidas tanto en formato digital (RAW) como analógico (escaneadas con un Nikon Coolscan V ED). Hasta 2018, el flujo de trabajo se apoyó en Adobe Lightroom, aprovechando su excelente capacidad de catalogación y su sólido procesamiento de imagen. Desde 2019, la edición se realiza directamente en Capture One Pro, un software que, aunque carece de las funciones de catalogación de Lightroom, ofrece herramientas más potentes y ágiles para la edición. Sus controles de color, el uso de capas y la flexibilidad para trabajar en distintos niveles (catálogos o sesiones) lo convierten en la mejor elección actual.

Ciertamente, no es el equipo lo que hace mejor a un fotógrafo: el éxito de una imagen reside en la visión, como bien señaló Ansel Adams: *“no hay nada peor que una fotografía nítida de un concepto difuso”*. Sin embargo, contar con herramientas adecuadas para cada tarea fotográfica ayuda mucho. En general, prefiero la luz natural al flash y el trípode a la mano alzada.

La imagen es lo que observamos en una pantalla; la fotografía, lo que vemos impreso en papel. El proceso fotográfico no se completa hasta que la imagen obtenida —ya sea por sensor digital o película analógica— se transfiere al papel. El papel fotográfico otorga textura, tonalidad y, sobre todo, la calidad de permanencia, hoy tan poco habitual. De nuevo con Ansel Adams: *“el negativo (o el archivo digital) es la partitura; la copia impresa es la interpretación”.* Por ello, las imágenes seleccionadas y procesadas en Capture One se exportan en formato TIFF y se imprimen con una Epson P800, empleando el software Qimage Ultimate. Según la naturaleza de la obra, se utilizan papeles Canson Infinity (Platine Fiber Rag, Rag Photographique, Edition Etching Rag) o Hahnemühle Fine Art (Photo Rag, Photo Rag Satin), en distintos tamaños, garantizando calidad museística y permanencia.

Since 2019 they are edited directly in Capture One Pro, a software that has neither the cataloging facilities nor the modules of Lightroom but offers more powerful tools for editing (edition results particularly easier and faster with Capture One respect to Lightroom). Particularly the color tools and the use of layers for image optimization and the facilities for working at different levels according to the situation (catalogs and sessions) make Capture One the best choice nowadays.

Certainly it is not the gear what makes you a better photographer, and the final success of a picture obviously resides on the vision of the photographer, as Ansel Adams well said: "there is nothing worse than a sharp picture of a fuzzy concept". However, having good and appropriate tools for a given photographic task helps a lot. In general, I prefer, whenever possible, natural light to flash and tripod to free-hand for taking a picture.

Image is what we can observe on any screen, a photograph what we see printed on a paper. The photographic process is not actually finished until we transfer the image we have obtained, either by means of a digital sensor or an analogic film, to the paper. The photographic paper gives the image not only texture and tonality, but also the rather by today standards unusual, quality of permanence before our eyes. Back again to Ansel Adams: "the negative (i.e. the digital file) is the score, the print is the performance". Hence, to reach the final stage of the photographic process, selected images processed in Capture One are export as TIFF and printed with an Epson P800 printer employing the Qimage Ultimate software. Depending on the nature of the image, either Canson Infinity (Platine Fiber Rag, Rag Photographique, Edition Etching Rag) or Hahnemühle Fine Art (Photo Rag, Photo Rag Satin) papers, in different sizes, are used.
